Greenie Films on the set: "Scared About Life Without Oprah"

We were THRILLED and DELIGHTED to help out our dear friend, Writer and Comedienne MAXINE LAPIDUSS a few weeks ago in the shooting and production of the music video for her BRILLIANT comedy song, "SCARED ABOUT LIFE WITHOUT OPRAH" .

Barbara Green served as Director of Photography and Lighting Genius

and Michelle Boyaner was AD, DigiTech and official "Shhhh-sher"

The song tells a tale of a woman who can't imagine life without her daily dose of O, but also worried she's blown her last chance to get discovered by Oprah herself.

It also has a guest appearance by Glee's Jane Lynch.

The song was produced by Wendy and Lisa (of "Prince" fame) who recently won an Emmy for writing the Nurse Jackie theme.

The song was co-written with Michael Orland – asst. musical director on American Idol and pop song writing diva, Allee Willis (September, theme from Friends, the musical The Color Purple) to name a few.

World Premiere of THE BEDWETTER in Toronto

THE BEDWETTER had its WORLD PREMIERE at INSIDE OUT, Toronto's LGBT Film Festival on Saturday and was a GREAT SUCCESS!!! We hear the audience laughed and sighed and rooted in all the right places, and applauded enthusiastically as the credits rolled!!

So much has been going on over here at GREENIE FILMS, especially on our latest project, the narrative short film, THE BEDWETTER.

We are heavily in post-production, editing away (every time you trim a scene, an angel gets their wings).

Also, last week we did some voice over recording with our very young lead actress, Katie Morgan, at GRIND Music and Sound in Studio City with our Amazing Sound Editor, Michelle Garuik.

Greenie Films is in pre-production on our new narrative short film, THE BEDWETTER.

THE BEDWETTER, set in 1975, is the coming of age story of an almost 11-year-old Tomboy dealing with bullies, bedwetting, and a new Stepmother.

We had our first casting session last week, with the amazing casting director (and dear friend) Danielle Eskinazi and we saw some incredible actors (non-union, due to our humble, low budget). Casting #2 is this Thursday and we hope to make casting decisions over the weekend!

ALSO::::: We're looking for a talented team of creatives to work on Wardrobe, Prop/Set Styling, etc. so keep your eyes open and send any crazy-talented folks our way so we can have a chat.

Filming is scheduled for August 1, 2 & 3 in the Los Angeles area and the whole GREENIE FILMS team are gleeful (truly!) and excited to be putting this whole magical project together!

A Finished Life: The Goodbye and No Regrets Tour

This documentary opens with two small children, one of whom explains that Uncle Gregg is going on a cross-country trip “because he’s going to die from AIDS” and wants to say goodbye to all his friends and family. After watching his partner, Jeff, die of the same disease, Gregg comes to the conclusion that he doesn’t want to “waste away,” so when his doctors want to switch his medications, Gregg decides to stop taking them and let nature take its course, saying he will end his own life when physical and emotional suffering become too much to bear. Despite the terminal nature of Gregg’s illness and the audience’s knowledge from the outset that this movie will not have a Hollywood-happy ending, A Finished Life is one of the most positive, life-affirming films out there.

A Finished Life Screening at Warner Brothers 7/28

We had an amazing screening of A FINISHED LIFE on Monday July 28th
on the Warner Brothers Lot in Burbank.

We were overwhelmed with the incredible response afterwards, and in numerous emails in the days and weeks that followed. Below are just a few quotes from some of those emails:

We're back in Los Angeles and are THRILLED to report to all of you that the
"World Premiere" of our documentary, A Finished Life: The Goodbye & No Regrets Tour,
at FRAMELINE 32, was a huge success!!!

We started our trip up to Frameline in SF by "papering the town" with various sizes of
"A Finished Life" posters and postcards. We were surprised by the
"it's NEVER this hot in San Francisco" HEATWAVE that greeted us, and found it both challenging and weight-reducing to walk the streets in almost 100 degree heat, putting up our posters wherever a blank piece of bulletin board or utility pole would allow:

We were LUCKY to have many very special guests in town for the screening, including:

PLUS....a wonderful group of FRIENDS and FAMILY who made the trip up for the screening too, but we still wondered what size crowd we'd have for our premiere at The Roxie....

We were FLOORED/THRILLED/BLOWN AWAY by the crowd. The theater was packed and the audiences response was INCREDIBLE. The laughs were HUGE laughs... and the TEARS.. those were huge, too. Several times we heard a chorus of sniffles that filled the theater.

After the screening, the audience gave us an AMAZINGLY GENEROUS and VERY ENTHUSIASTIC round of applause, followed by an additional HUGE and LENGTHY round of CHEERING and APPLAUSE for Gregg's Mom, Bonnie, after which we all did a Q&A with the audience:

Due to the incredible response at the screening (including being solicited by several other festivals whose programming people were in our audience) we are planning a
LOS ANGELES SCREENING, sometime toward the end of July. If you are interested in attending that screening, please email us and we will add you to the guest list.

Once again, we were humbled to have had the opportunity to tell Gregg's story and to have received THAT response from the audience was more than we could have asked for.

Happy Birthday Gregg!

Today, October 1, 2007 would have been Gregg Gour's 50th Birthday... and we send our heartfelt thoughts and wishes to all his Family and Friends.

And, in honor of Gregg's Birthday, we'd like to tell you all that last Thursday we completed Gregg's film:
and we have just submitted it to The Sundance Film Festival, the first of many festivals we'll be submitting to.

We are also working on the website for the film which we hope to have complete within a week or so. We will post any news here in the coming days/weeks/months.

We have felt Gregg with us every step of the way through this process, and we will continue to ask for everyone's emotional support as we now take the step of sharing the completed film with the public.

Remembering Gregg Gour: World AIDS Day 2006

Gregg Gour was an amazing man who worked tirelessly to help raise money and awareness for the fight against HIV/AIDS and the hope for finding a cure. Let's all continue his work and keep fighting and using our voices and our resources in the hope that one day we will find a cure.

Greenie Films is currently in post production on A FINISHED LIFE: The Goodbye and No Regrets Tour , a feature-length documentary about Gregg Gour, a 48-year-old HIV positive gay man who is on the road trip of his life.

Gregg was HIV positive for twenty-four years and in July 2004 he chose to go off of his HIV/AIDS medication, as the side-effects of the medications were making him sicker than the virus itself. He decided that he no longer wanted to fight death. In December of 2005 he was given six months to live and made another decision: He would buy an RV and travel cross country with his dog, Cody, saying goodbye to family and friends.

A FINISHED LIFE: The Goodbye and No Regrets Tour is a loving portrait of Gregg’s journey.
